Here follows a brief summary of what’s happened in RoE so far. Mostly this is taken from the various Status Reports, but there are some tidbits that may not be as readily apparent elsewhere, so pay attention.

Avanalae's Blessing

Chapter 1 – Turns 1-20 (1520HC-1524HC)

The major events of the first chapter are related mainly to three things:

Firstly the growing conflict between the Duchy of Diemed on one side and the Alliance of Medoere, Ilien, and Roesone on the other. Diemed wants her lost territories back, and the current owners are none to eager to comply. Next is the threat posed to the coasts of the South Coast and Eastern Marches by the terrible Black Galley Raiders; foul pirates from down south in Aduria. The last major event is the growing power of the brutal Usurper Duke Raenech of Osoerde. He is beginning to cause problems for his neighbors. In addition there are numerous minor plotlines, and events continue to unfold in other parts of Anuire as well.

By the end of this chapter the following things have happened:

Medoere has fallen into Dieman hands and has been reduced to a Barony under the rule of Duke Diem. All is not lost though, for the peace treaty is lenient, and the RCS is allowed to continue to exist as a vassal temple of the OIT. The Black Galley Raiders are still very much at large, even if they have suffered some setbacks. No costal province or trade holding is safe in southern Anuire. The enemies of Osoerde have been unable to coordinate their efforts against Raenech, allowing him to become a major power in the Eastern Marches.

Chapter 1

Chapter 2 – Turns 21-40 (1525HC-1529HC)

Most of the plotlines from the previous chapter continue, and several of them reach their conclusion:

In the background the war between Avanil and Boeruine continue with increased ferocity; it seems that Prince Avan has decided to end this conflict once and for all. The Black Galley Raiders are finally defeated, mostly through the efforts of Mieres and Ilien. It will be at least a generation or two before they can cause any more problems for Anuire. Diemed has not given up her ambitions for Ilien and Roesone, but except for a small coup in Roesone aimed at inserting a regent more favorably disposed to Diemed and less favorably to Raenech, it seems that Duke Diem is content to wait.

Duke Raenech continues his meteoric rise to power – his enemies are still unable to join forces against him. There is, however, something good to be said about the situation, for Duke Raenech repents and receives absolution for his sins from the High Prefect of the IHH (not everybody accepts that). Following his atonement, Raenech continues his quest for power with renewed vigor, and eventually controls the following realms through conquest, vassalages and alliances: Osoerde, Coeranys, Aerenwe, Roesone, Ilien, Ghoere, Mhoried, and Elinie. However, before he can bring his overwhelming power to bear on the Iron Throne, the Gorgon starts to rumble, and Raenech declares his intention of ridding the world of this foul awnsheghlien – which ends in the Kings death. Yet it has not been in vain, for the power of the Gorgon is broken, and Anuire has shown that when united there is nothing that can stand against the might of Haelyn’s chosen.

Chapter 2

Chapter 3 – Turns 41-60 (1530HC-1534HC)

With the death of King Raenech and the apparent defeat of the Gorgon, the people of Anuire seem ready to begin doing what they know best – bickering amongst themselves. Already noble is turning on noble, priest upon priest, and guilder upon guilder; much like they always do.

As the widow Queen Roesone-Raenech tries to hold her husband’s Kingdom together, powerful forces have mobilized to tear it all apart. Duke Hiriele was the first, but certainly not the last to break the sacred vows of vassalage. Soon they will in their selfishness have squandered away this opportunity for peace and prosperity for all…

Meanwhile, for those who care to look, there are ominous signs and portents pointing to a great evil stirring in the Shadows. Will the people of Anuire realize their jeopardy before it is too late, or will the Shadow yet be triumphant?

Chapter 3

Chapter 4 (RoE II) – Turns 61-80 (1535HC-1539HC)

What events, grand and small, will shape the future of Anuire? Only you, the player, can help answer that...
