spotted in the Straits of Aerele, heralding a series of vicious raids on costal
provinces that continues for many years.
1520Undead start appearing in
greater number in the province
of Shadowgreen. There are
rumors that a necromancer from Old Aduria has come to wake the ancient evil
buried there.
1521Queen Liliene Swordwraith
of Aerenwe is killed fighting the Lich’s forces in the Erebannien. Her daughter
Tasaenae is invested as the second Queen of Aerenwe. Duke Raenech of Osoerde
tries to claim the province
of Dhoenel, but is forced
to back down by the determined young Queen.
1521Count Kalien of Endier
dispatches an army of 5000 mercenaries to teach Medoere a lesson. The attack is countered by fanatical
Medoerean templars, who buy
Roesone enough time to send her army across the Spider to defeat the intruders.
1522Goblins and gnolls from the
Spiderfell invade Roesone. They manage to defeat the army of Roesone in open
battle, and hold the province
of Ghoried for a season
before being driven back.
1522Cardinal Lavanal Briesen of
the OrthodoxImperialTemple
is poisoned and a coup places a usurper in control of the church.
The Cardinal later recovers, and is able to defeat the usurper with
the help of the Duke of Diemed and a group of loyal knight templars.
1523Duke Diem is captured and
imprisoned while on a secret mission in Medoere, but he later escapes.
1523Baron Teried Roesone
abdicates, leaving his realm to his daughter Marlae. The Count of Bellam dies unexpectedly, and his
heir refuses to accept Marlae as his liege lord. Civil war erupts, with House
Bellamie being backed by the Duke of Osoerde.
1523Coeranys is attacked by a
huge Black Galley fleet. The capital is sacked and the ruling family killed or
imprisoned.
1523The Dieman heir, Carvaloen,
is invested as the regent of a minor province in southern Taeghas and is
promised the title of Duke the Taeghas. Issues arise regarding the line of
succession in Diemed.
1523Queen Tasaenae Swordwraith
of Aerenwe weds Caemed Roesone, the twin brother of the new Baroness of
Roesone, Marlae.
1524The County of Bellamie
becomes semi-independent from Roesone after peace negotiations – it remains
part of the realm, but is effectively allowed to rule itself.
1524The forces of Archduke Boer
are allowed by Carvaloen Diem to pass through Taeghas to attack Avanil from the
unprotected south.
1524The Usurper Duke of
Osoerde, Jaison Raenech, attacks the weakened realm of Coeranys, seizing the
two westernmost provinces, including the capital of Ruorven (what is left of it
anyway). The worship of Belinik is becoming widespread in Osoerde.
1524Diemed attacks Medoere, who
is supported by her allies Roesone, Ilien and the IHH. Initial success for the
Dieman forces, but is halted after capturing Alamier and Caerwil. The Count of
Ilien is crippled and left for dead after being stabbed by Duke Diem at the
height of the battle of Silver Grove. He later recovers, but will never walk
again (but he is later cured by a miracle performed by the High Prefect of the
IHH).
1524Arron Vaumel, Governor of
Mieres, initiates a major campaign against the Albiele Pirates and their allies,
the Black Galley Raiders.
1524The Archwizard Caine is
slain by a mysterious green-clad knight in the employ of the Duke of Diemed;
later events will reveal him to be Ser Estevan Daulton (who becomes know as the
Green Knight, a man that is fearless in battle and undefeatable in the joust or
melee).
1524King Gavin Tael is murdered
by his own lieutenants – Ghorien Hiriele, the Sword Mage and Knight-Marshal
Merran Daulton. Ghoere is divided in three parts – Ghieste to Hiriele, Dhalaene
to Daulton and Tornilen to the Sword Mage. The province of Achiese
is ceded to Jaison Raenech of Osoerde to buy his recognition and support.
1524Elinie and Aerenwe attack
Osoerde in an attempt to relieve the pressure on Coeranys. The campaign is
largely unsuccessful, mostly due to lack of coordination.
1524A rebellion in Coeranys
fails miserably and is suppressed without mercy by Raenech. Commoner and noble
alike are hung by the score. The heir of Baruk-Azhik is captured by Raench, and
the dwarves withdraw their support from Coeranys.
